The fastest-growing social media

According to Statista, TikTok is one of the fastest-growing social media sites ever. Since it came out in 2016, it has been downloaded more than 6.75 billion times around the world. There is a lot of opportunity for involvement on this site.

TikTok is quickly becoming a big name in social commerce. Shopping on the platform is growing because of features like TikTok Shop, which lets users buy things in the app. This change makes it harder to tell the difference between content and commerce, giving marketers additional ways to sell more directly through the app.

**How Many People Use TikTok?**

Since it was out, the short-form video app has grown a lot. Many people use it to engage with their fans in new ways. Sprout Social says that TikTok is the fastest social network to get 1 billion active users. TikTok has more than 1.58 billion monthly active users by 2025, making it the seventh most popular social media site in the world. Statista says that in 2025, it was behind Facebook (3.065 billion), YouTube (2.5 billion), WhatsApp (2 billion), and Instagram (2 billion).

Over 30 million individuals in the UK use TikTok every month, and there are more than 1.5 million British businesses on the site. More and more marketers are interested in TikTok because it follows a major trend in social media: young people are more interested in working together and being creative. Users stay interested in the platform for a long time since it moves quickly. On average, people spend 90 minutes a day on the app.

Who Is the Owner of TikTok?

ByteDance released a version of Musical.ly called Douyin

In 2014, TikTok started as an app called Musical.ly that let people make and share short lip-sync videos. The Chinese software startup ByteDance released a version of Musical.ly called Douyin for the Chinese market in 2016. In 2017, they released it worldwide as TikTok. ByteDance bought Musical.ly and added it to its platform because it saw the potential to interact with young people who grew up with technology. This is how TikTok came to be. In China, ByteDance still runs Douyin on its own.

The U.S. government and its Chinese parent firm, ByteDance, have been having more and more problems with TikTok lately. ByteDance has until September 27, 2025, to sell TikTok, or the U.S. government would ban it across the country. In January, TikTok was down in the U.S. for nearly 14 hours because of a Supreme Court decision involving national security. Former President Trump put off enforcing the ban many times, first moving the deadline to June 19 and again until September 27.

TikTok Marketing 101

Find Your Audience,

Nail the Strategy

Before beginning marketing on TikTok, ensure your target audience exists and is willing to view content that resonates with them. With over one billion active users on this social platform, this should not be difficult! However, it’s crucial that you identify who they are and the types of posts they will appreciate.

TikTok is an app dedicated to creativity. When using influencer marketing or creating content yourself, be sure that it’s real and engaging for your target audience. Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what works!

TikTok rewards both quality and consistency of posts; posting regularly (3-5 times each week is ideal) keeps you relevant in your followers’ feeds and ensures you remain visible to them.

TikTok provides powerful analytics tools, so it is wise to check your performance metrics on a regular basis to identify what works and what doesn’t, and adapt your strategy as necessary.

Trends on TikTok can be powerful, but don’t overstretch their boundaries. Make sure the content fits with your brand voice and resonates with readers; learn from mistakes made, but move on quickly when something doesn’t work as intended.

What is TikTok affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketers promote products and then get paid a percentage of the sales. Affiliate marketing is when someone says something like, “Use the code Alyssa20 to get 20% off these shoes.”  The brand can see how many times the coupon code was used to see how many sales the influencer made, and they pay the influencer accordingly.

TikTok’s affiliate marketing can help you find creators and keep track of all the sales they make for you. In fact, the site will even pay the creator for you.

There are three ways to do affiliate marketing on TikTok

From clicks to cash—your way

Setting a flat commission rate for all of your products is the easiest way to do affiliate marketing on TikTok. For instance, creators get 5% of the money they make from selling any item

In this plan, the business can set different commission rates for other products, and all creators can join

With this option, you can ask specific creators to promote certain products

How to use TikTok? TikTok Tutorial

You can get the TikTok app from the App Store or Google Play.

To get to your profile, open the app on your phone and tap the "Profile" button.  This button is in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Pick the best way to sign up.  You can sign up with your phone number or email address, or you can use your Facebook, Google, Apple (for iPhone users), Instagram, or Twitter account.

Then, type in a password that you will use to log in to TikTok.  This should be safe, easy to remember, and closely tied to your brand.

You now need to choose a username for your account.  This step is crucial because this name will be huge at the top of your TikTok profile page.  It also works as your TikTok username.  You should use your real brand name so that people can find it.

How to grow TikTok Audience

Finding a specific niche is the first step to getting more followers on TikTok. Make sure your content is both consistent and engaging, and try to talk to your followers. Use analytics to find out what kinds of content your audience likes, work with other creators, and take part in popular challenges.

Make sure your videos have good lighting and sound, and post them often. Share them on other social media sites as well. To make your content better, be real, use the right hashtags, and always try out new ideas. To get people to follow you, be consistent, have fun, and talk to your audience.
